Resident Evil Requiem Leakers Blasted By Hideki Kamiya: ‘You Deserve To Die A Thousand Deaths’

Resident Evil 2 director Hideki Kamiya has slammed those who have leaked the story for Resident Evil Requiem, after various copies of the game were sold early at retailers and resulted in major story spoilers flooding the Internet last week.

Speaking on X, Kamiya-san has been in a similar situation back when Resident Evil 2 was originally released, with one of the major plot twists in the game leaking ahead of release in a magazine. In short? Kamiya-san is not impressed with those who have leaked the game’s story.

I remember back on Biohazard 2 [Resident Evil 2], I’m pretty sure its late-game twist was completely spoiled by some weekly photo magazine too. For the sake of your own selfish satisfaction, you trample on the feelings of players eagerly awaiting the game, and the creators who poured their hearts into making it. It’s a despicable act that destroys everyone’s happiness – you deserve to die a thousand deaths. May you be cursed never to play games again.

Resident Evil Requiem is slated to launch on February 27, 2026 for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. The game features two playable characters – FBA agent Grace Ashcroft and DSO agent Leon S. Kennedy – as the pair cross paths in their investigation into a series of mysterious murders that are seemingly to survivors of the Raccoon City T-Virus outbreak of 1998. Grace’s portions are more aligned with the survival horror origins of the franchise, while Leon’s is more focussed on action similar to Resident Evil 4.

Capcom celebrates the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil in March 2026, with the original game – known as Biohazard in Japan – launching on March 22, 1996 in Japan.
