A dataminer has uncovered evidence that a Mercenaries Mode may be set to roll out for Resident Evil Requiem, after Capcom announced earlier this year that a mini-game would be released for the survival horror title in May.
X user Syrkov revealed that they had found music in the backend of Resident Evil Requiem that could be related to the mysterious new mode, although right now it isn’t confirmed if it is for The Mercenaries or something else. “I was digging through Resident Evil Requiem files and found something that could be related to future extra mode / Mercenaries. Here’s some of the tracks I found,” they wrote.
The Mercenaries was introduced in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis back in 1999 and has remained a regular attraction for the series ever since, returning in Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil 4 Remake. The mini-game sees players competing against the clock while dispatching as many foes as possible, unlocking new characters and stages in the process.
Resident Evil Requiem was released for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S on February 27, 2026. You can read our full review here. In addition to the mini-game that Capcom is planning for next month, we’re also getting a story expansion for the game that leaker Dusk Golem believes will feature Leon as opposed to Grace’s mother, Alyssa.
