Capcom has announced that Resident Evil Requiem has sold over five million copies worldwide since its launch on February 27.
Resident Evil Requiem takes place around 28 year after the destruction of Raccoon City, as depicted in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and its remake, and sees players controlling FBI agent Grace Ashcroft and DSO operative Leon S. Kennedy. Both are investigating a string of mysterious deaths linked to survivors of the Raccoon City outbreak, which leads them to ex-Umbrella scientist Victor Gideon.
The game allows players to select first or third-person viewpoints via the options screen, and has you jumping between Grace and Leon during key sections. Unlike Leon, who is a veteran survivor in the world of bio-terrorism, Grace is completely unprepared for the horrors that await her, and thus her sections are more aligned with the classic survival horror gameplay of the franchise, while Leon’s are more action-focussed.
Resident Evil celebrates its 30th anniversary on March 22, having originally released on that date back in 1996 for the original PlayStation. You can read our full review of Resident Evil Requiem here.
