Capcom’s Machisaka Kawata and Yasuhiro Anba have spilt a few interesting tidbits on the forthcoming survival horror sequel, Resident Evil: Revelations 2, during an interview with this week’s Famitsu magazine (via Siliconera).
The duo first touched light on the mysterious live-action teaser trailer for Revelations 2, which depicts a young girl moving through a crowded room, some of which appear to be suffering from the effects of a zombie plague.
“It’s the most important key item,” says Kawata-san, in regards to the bracelet people are seeing wearing in the teaser. “It will also become a key part of the game’s story.”
“While putting together content for the trailer, I’d normally say ‘huh, but this is a spoiler!’ and stop it, but this time, I decided to bear with it and give it out as a big service,” Anba-san added.
As for the girl herself, Capcom’s keeping mum right now.
“You’ve pointed out a part that’s difficult for us to talk about right now,” laughed Kawata-san. “Personally speaking, that’s an image that I really like, and I’ll leave it at that for now.”
Elsewhere, the duo also touched on the location shots teased so far, specifically the prison complex and the mysterious island.
“The first Resident Evil takes place in a mansion, and with Revelations taking place on a cruise liner, so you have many stages that were set in closed locations, but Revelations 2 will take place on a lonely island located somewhere in the distant sea. We’d like to make it into something we can call ‘Resident Evil Island’,” explained Anba-san.
“The place is much wider than the cruise liner, so there’s plenty more we can set up than what we had in the previous game.”
Finally, Kawata-san said that there are other facilities other than a prison complex on the island. Indeed, this recalls Resident Evil Code: Veronica, which featured a prison, yet this complex was only a small portion of the game’s island setting.
Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is due out on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 in 2015.
