Resident Evil Revelations release date down for later this year

Capcom has announced via Twitter that Resident Evil Revelations will be hitting PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the U.S. and Europe in fall 2017.

The survival horror title will be available both as a digital download and at retail, though no further details are available at this point in regards to any possible extra content or PS4-specific enhancements.

Resident Evil Revelations PS4 launch incoming

Resident Evil Revelations was originally released on the Nintendo 3DS in 2012 before being ported to the PS3, PC, Xbox 360, and Wii U the following year. The game takes place in between the events of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, and sees Jill Valentine and newcomer Parker investigating a spooky ocean liner infested with creatures infected by the T-Abyss Virus. Chris Redfield also features in the game alongside partner Jessica, once again working with the BSAA.

Although still adhering to the over-the-shoulder mechanics seen in modern Resi games, Revelations was seen as something of a return to form for the long-running survival horror franchise, eschewing lengthy combat sequences in favor of exploration and puzzle solving—something which Capcom would also employ in the recent Resident Evil 7 to great effect.
