Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will be released in cinemas on January 27, 2017, Sony Pictures has announced (via IGN).
Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, The Final Chapter, as you might have guessed, is the final instalment in the series based on Capcom’s multi-million selling video game franchise, and once again stars Milla Jovovich as the zombie-slaying Alice.
Also returning to battle Umbrella’s Red Queen will be Ali Larter (Claire Redfield), Wentworth Miller (Chris Redfield) and Li Bingbing (Ada Wong). It is rumored that Shawn Roberts (Albert Wesker) and Johann Urb (Leon S. Kennedy) will also return, but this has yet to be confirmed.
Filming will begin next month after being delayed to accommodate the birth of Jovovich’s second child with Anderson in April 2015.
The Resident Evil movie series is the most successful game-to-film franchise of all time, grossing over $915 million worldwide.
