Speaking during an interview with EDGE magazine, Resident Evil Village director Morimasas Sato has promised that the survival horror sequel will deliver the goods when it comes to ‘intense and horrifying’ scenes.
Sato-san confirmed that Resident Evil Village, aka Resident Evil 8, will adhere to the core themes of the long-running series, which celebrates its 25th anniversary on March 22.
As you know, one of the central themes of the Resident Evil series is horror or fear, and I would just warn you not to take anything you’ve seen so far as an indication that you can relax in terms of horror content! There are plenty of intense and horrifying scenes in the game, but we’ve chosen to leave those for you to experience by yourself.
Resident Evil Village is scheduled for release on PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One on May 7, and takes place a few years after the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Players control Ethan Winters, who finds himself battling against werewolf-like creatures and other monstrosities in a remote European settlement.
Capcom launched the original Resident Evil in Japan, known as Biohazard, on March 22, 1996 for the PlayStation.
