Resident Evil Village Getting Free Accessibility Update With Winters’ Expansion & Gold Edition

Capcom has announced that a free accessibility update for Resident Evil Village is launching alongside the Gold Edition and Winters’ expansion later this year.

This update will include the following:

  • Subtitle size, color & background toggles
  • Speaker name display in story mode
  • Closed captions
  • Permanent reticle

Resident Evil Village was released for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One in May 2021. The game picks up a few years after the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, and sees Ethan Winters pursuing his kidnapped daughter to a remote village populated by vicious, werewolf-like creatures.

Capcom’s upcoming Winters’ Expansion will feature a host of paid-for DLC, including the new Shadows of Rose story expansion, the third-person perspective, and new content for the Mercenaries. The Gold Edition of Resident Evil Village meanwhile features the base game and all above content.

Looking ahead, Capcom is working on full-blown remake of Resident Evil 4 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. The game is scheduled for release on March 24, 2023.
