An update on the Official PlayStation Blog has unveiled some intriguing news regarding two highly anticipated titles from the talented folks over at Insomniac Games and Bend Studios.
As some of you may be aware, Retribution was first announced at E3 in July as a PSP title that would display an alternate point in time within the Resistance franchise. However, it is now confirmed that both games will be interoperable by linking your PS3 to your PSP.
By linking the two pieces of hardware, Resistance: Retribution will receive two different abilities. The first is a new mode of play entitled Infected. This mode essentially finds Grayson being dragged off by Specter Lieutenant David LaSalle, where he is infected with the Chimeran virus (an entirely different strain to what has befallen Nathan Hale, we might add)
This will afford gamers the chance to do things they couldn’t otherwise do within Retribution, but only for as long as the two units are linked. When infected, Grayson now has the ability to breathe underwater (helping him find new areas), utilize a new Resistance 2 weapon (HE .44 Magnum) as well as providing him with regenerative health.
Elsewhere, you’ll also have the ability to play Retribution on your PSP utilizing the DualShock 3 controller. This setup will feature full rumble support, though the aim assist feature will be disabled, thus increasing the overall challenge. To further enhance your experience of the game, be sure to use the video out capability of your PSP Slim/3000.
Indeed, Sony seems to be doing everything it can to offer consumers the very best entertainment on PlayStation, both from the comfort of their living room and on the go. Be sure to check out both titles upon release.
