Respawn’s Upcoming Star Wars FPS Is Being Developed On Unreal Engine 5

Respawn has more Star Wars games than just the upcoming sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, it’s also working on a new FPS game within the Star Wars universe.

There’s three Star Wars titles we know of currently in the works, but regarding this new FPS title, we don’t know much – but we did just learn it’s being developed on Unreal Engine 5.

That was confirmed on Twitter, when lead combat AI designer at Respawn Melissa Janowicz responded to a user who said they “wondered what engine” Respawn would be using.

Janowicz was kind enough to reply, and confirm that this new FPS project is being made on UE5.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the next Star Wars title we’ll see from Respawn, and considering that it doesn’t have a confirmed release date, it seems like we’re a ways off from seeing anything concrete about this FPS title.

Respawn has made a name for itself as one of, if not the best studio developing FPS games today. Turning the studio’s skills to the Star Wars universe comes with high expectations, so it’s doubtful the studio will show anything until it’s good and ready.

Still, it doesn’t help the thought that this could likely be one of the best shooters in the long history of Star Wars video games, which is a very exciting thought.
