Rock Band adds in-game music store

Rock Band owners will be delighted to find out that once they load up their copy of the game today, they will be prompted to download a patch with some exciting new features.

After selling more than 6 million songs through its weekly downloadable content, Harmonix has given Rock Band owners an even easier method to access downloadable tracks through the inclusion of an in-game Music Store that was made available by way of the new patch.

The team over at Harmonix commented on this new feature by saying, the music store will have a "user-friendly interface to streamline and enhance the music shopping experience," and will let players "view, purchase, and sort all downloadable songs tracks by Artist, Song Title, Genre, Albums, Pack," with full album art, song previews, and instrument-by-instrument difficulty levels.

"Thank you to the music lovers who have helped Rock Band reach an incredible milestone of over 6 million purchased downloads at such an early stage. The success of Rock Band downloadable content to date firmly reinforces our vision and its potential as a platform for music discovery.”

The new Music Store also allows users to preview tracks before they buy them and also allows users to evaluate their purchases beforehand by being able to view each individual track’s difficulty rating for each individual instrument. The patch is live now once the game is booted up.
