Sony and Psyonix has announced that the the hugely popular Rocket League is getting PlayStation 4 Pro support later this month.
Rocket League PS4 Pro support brings 4K gaming
The vehicular soccer title’s PS4 Pro patch will arrive on February 21, 2017, and includes the ability to play the game in 4K resolution at 60fps, with developer Panic Button brought on board to help with the update. While 4K is promised for all arenas for single-player and two-player split-screen, it won’t be native; rather, the game utilises checkerboard rendering to improve the image quality.
Even if you don’t have a PS4 Pro, the standard version of Rocket League will run much smoother than before, nearly always hitting 1080p/60fps for single-player and multiplayer split-screen thanks to the new update.
Rocket League was released for the PS4 in summer 2015, and allows for up to four players to take part in a unique game of soccer, where you pilot rocket-powered cars to score goals. The game has remained one of the most popular multiplayer titles for the PS4, and was the most downloaded title from the PlayStation Store in 2016.
