With the release of its next blockbuster just around the corner, Rockstar Games today announced two standalone soundtracks will be available alongside L.A. Noire on May 17.
Naturally, one of the two will be the L.A. Noire Official Soundtrack, which will include tunes heard in the game. The all-original score is inspired by some of the “greatest films of the 1940s,” and was recorded in London’s Abbey Road studios. There are some pretty big names tied to this OST, which is part in parcel for any Rockstar soundtrack by now, including music composed by Woody Jackson (known by gamers for his work with Bill Elm on the original score of Red Dead Redemption), and Andrew Hale (of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World fame).
The second soundtrack, L.A. Noire: Remixed, is a result of Rockstar and Verve Records reintroducing the music found throughout L.A. Noire with a modern take. The EP is a collection of six jazz tracks re-interpreted by well-known DJs, producers and remixers, with names like DJ Premier, and Truth & Soul attached to the project.
Rockstar has been touting a strong focus on the soundtrack of L.A. Noire for the past few months, since music will play a strong role during gameplay. See for yourself, when L.A. Noire is released alongside these albums on iTunes on May 17.
