Ruiner Developer Reikon Games Will Reportedly Layoff 80% Of Its Staff

Reikon Games, the studio behind 2017’s cyberpunk top-down shooter Ruiner will reportedly layoff 80% of its staff.

A report from Kotaku that’s corroborated by posts on LinkedIn from former Rekion developers confirms the layoffs, which are said to have impacted approximately 60 people.

There’s been no official announcement from Reikon Games, and the state of its upcoming title, Final Form, remains unknown.

Such a huge cut however doesn’t exactly inspire confidence, and leaves fans wondering if this next project will even be happening, at this point.

Hopefully an official word from Reikon will be released soon, and that it isn’t an announcement that the studio is shuttering its doors.

Reikon is after all an independent studio, so a layoff like this could just be the first sign of even worse news to come.

Which, disappointing as it is, would follow the trend that senior executives in the games industry were already predicting, in that 2024 will be the year we see as many studio closures, as we do layoffs.
