According to a report released by Kotaku, the third installation in the dark, Gotham-based Arkham series, Batman: Arkham Origins, will feature a multiplayer mode, a first for the franchise. Kotaku cites "two independent sources".
There is reason to believe this report is legitimate, as one of the two sources is allegedly responsible for other accurate pre-reveal tips, such as the game’s name and Christmas theme. The report also discusses, very briefly, a multiplayer mode that will pit gamers, playing as members of Bane or Joker’s gangs, against protagonist-vigilantes Batman and Robin. Origins’ multiplayer is also reported to include a wide variety of popular Batman villains, including Killer Croc, Deadshot, Firefly, Black Mask, Deathstroke, as well as an unknown "Electroman" character that is potentially be the Electrocutioner.
Warner Bros. has released no official statements regarding the legitimacy of this rumor. Batman: Arkham Origins is slated for release on October 25 for the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 alongside Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate for the PlayStation Vita.
