According to Joystiq.com, an anonymous Electronic Arts employee has divulged details on recent movement with EA Black Box and popular franchises Need for Speed and Skate. Apparently, EA has decided to "most likely" close down the Black Box studio in Vancouver and move the development teams to their larger studio in Burnaby.
As for the above franchises, Need for Speed will be heading to EA-owned Criterion Games and in the future be running on the same engine that the Burnout series is built on. Nothing was said about Skate, but it’s more than likely that they will continue to develop the series at the Burnaby studio.
Stay tuned for more details.
