Visceral Games’ as yet unannounced Dead Space 3 may utilize DICE’s acclaimed Frostbite 2.0 engine, if the latest Internet gossip is anything to go by.
First up is a job ad posted by Electronic Arts, which calls for a ‘Senior Environment Artist’ for the Dead Space franchise, based in Montreal. Just in case you didn’t know, EA Montreal was renamed Visceral Games Montreal last year.
That’s not all, however. DICE has added more fuel to the fire, with rendering architect Johan Andersson tweeting earlier this week: “Flying off to Canada & the US to visit a whole bunch of Frostbite-powered EA studios before GDC. First stop: Montreal.”
Frostbite 2.0 was used in last year’s stellar shooter Battlefield 3, as well as showing up in Need for Speed: The Run.
Chatter on Dead Space 3 first cropped up last year, with rumors claiming the horror sequel will once again star Isaac Clarke and will take place on a desolate ice planet known as Tau Volantis. In addition, what was purported to be the game’s logo even showed up on Israeli TV in 2011.
Stay tuned for more details as they break.
