GameStop Italy has claimed that the PlayStation 4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider will be released on October 11, 2016.
While we already know that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be hitting PS4 later this year following its Xbox One debut in late 2015, Square Enix has not yet confirmed an official date for the action-adventure sequel.
It’s worth noting that GameStop Italy carries the October date on both its website and in-store promotional material, however. Still, we advise taking this info with a pinch of salt for the time being.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is the follow-up to 2013’s critically acclaimed Tomb Raider reboot, which tells the origins of heroine Lara Croft as she is exposed to her first major adventure after being shipwrecked on a mysterious Island.
The sequel follows the dexterous archaeologist as she explores snow-capped mountains in search of an ancient artefact, and introduces a dynamic day/night cycle that both animals and human adversaries react to. Lara also has more tricks up her sleeves this time around to help her survive the harsh conditions.
In related news, the upcoming Tomb Raider movie reboot has been given a March 2018 launch window, and will feature Alicia Vikander in the lead role.
