Rise of the Tomb Raider for PS4 is still coming this year

Crystal Dynamics has reiterated that the PlayStation 4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider is still on track for a holiday 2016 release.

The developer’s comments come in light of the game’s conspicuous absence at E3 2016 last month, leading many to question if the title had been pushed back. It also hasn’t helped that we’ve heard few details on the PS4 version since its announcement.

"As stated previously, Rise of the Tomb Raider’s PlayStation 4 release is set for Holiday 2016,” said Crystal Dynamics in a post on the official Square Enix board.

Rise of the Tomb Raider continues Lara Croft’s success after 2013 reboot

Rise of the Tomb Raider was originally released on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC under a year’s exclusivity. However, Square Enix later confirmed that the game will be heading to Sony’s current generation console later this year.

Right now, it’s unknown if the PS4 version will include any possible visual enhancements over its Xbox One counterpart or feature any previously released downloadable content.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed Tomb Raider reboot, which was released back in 2013. New to the table this time includes more stealth options, the ability to use the environment to your advantage to confuse enemies, plus a full day/night cycle.

In related news, the lead role for the upcoming Tomb Raider film reboot has recently been confirmed as Alicia Vikander.
