Undead Lab Confirms ‘Significant Number’ Of Layoffs As It Becomes Fully Independent

Undead Labs has revealed in a post on LinkedIn that the studio has made a “significant number” of layoffs at the company following news it has gone fully independent.

Unfortunately, today we are also saying goodbye to a significant number of our colleagues. It’s difficult to reach this moment knowing that not everyone who helped get us here gets to make the rest of the journey with us. They are exceptionally talented developers who have poured years into the State of Decay franchise: solving hard problems, looking after one another, and helping shape both this game and this studio. Their work remains part of Undead Labs and part of State of Decay 3, regardless of where their careers take them next.

Undead Labs going independent came off the back of the first wave of Xbox layoffs in July, which impacted other developers including Compulsion Games, which is also now independent. Unfortunately, it was revealed yesterday that Ninja Theory has failed to find a buyer despite previous reports, and is now entering consultation process ahead of a proposed studio closure.
