Virtuous Studios was reportedly working on a remaster of Tomb Raider Anniversary for the series’ 25th anniversary in 2021, according to fan site Raider.
According to the leak, the Tomb Raider Anniversary Remaster would have included mechanics seen in the rebooted franchise from Crystal Dynamics. The game was actually teased in the original ending of Shadow of the Tomb Raider before being patched out.
It’s also worth pointing out that Tomb Raider Anniversary Remaster was on the GeForce Nvidia leak as Tomb Raider 25th Anniversary.
Tomb Raider Anniversary was released back in 2007 for the PS2, PC, Xbox 360, PSP, and Wii. The game is a retelling of the original 1996 Tomb Raider with updated visuals and mechanics based off of the Tomb Raider Legend engine.
In related news, the new Tomb Raider game is currently in development at Crystal Dynamics using the Unreal Engine 5.
