A new rumour has sprouted that points to EA potentially working on a new Marvel game, a thought that could mean a lot of things.
This comes from Nick Baker on the Xbox Era podcast, as spotted by Tech4Gamers. According to one of Baker’s sources, a new Marvel game is in development with EA, and that’s all he can say at the time.
“Out of nowhere, this new source sends me a DM the other day, saying ‘Oi, EA’s making a Marvel game.'” says Baker. That’s about all we got on this supposed project, though if it is real, it may not even be announced anytime soon.
EA purposely skipped out on this years summer announcement season, and have yet to indicate that we’ll get any kind of show later this year at all.
Any project between Marvel and EA likely isn’t small potatoes, so as EA is lining up its announcements, if this is early in the process, it’s doubtful we hear something this year.
But speculating around what we could be getting in this game is still possible. It could potentially be another swing at a big multiplayer title within the Marvel universe, after Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics categorically struck out in that regard.
Or it could be another solo, single-player story similar to what Insomniac is doing with Spider-Man and then Wolverine.
A big insight into the kind of game we can expect would be the reveal of who exactly EA would task with this project, though that, like many other details, are still unknown.
