Leaker Tom Henderson has weighed on the as-yet unannounced PS5 Slim, suggesting that the new console may not actually be a significantly trimmed version of Sony’s flagship console.
Writing on Twitter, Henderson said that it may be a case that the new PS5 console will carry ‘slightly different dimensions’ than the current version of the system.
I don’t know anything about the recent PlayStation Slim rumors and when it will be revealed.
Logically, with a release set for September, a reveal soon makes sense. As for if it will be called the “Slim” or not, I’m inclined to believe it will just be called a PS5 and branded as an improved model. It’s my understanding that this new model will completely replace the current PlayStation 5 with the last units hitting shelves by the end of the year.
When asked by a follower how slim the console will be, Henderson said, it will probably not be slim, but “just slightly different dimensions.”
This isn’t the only time we’ve heard about a PS5 Slim. Earlier this month, Microsoft revealed in legal documents pertaining to its then-court case with the FTC that a PS5 Slim would launch later this year. Elsewhere, a report on TheLeak last November claimed that a revised version of the PS5 would be released in the third quarter of 2023.
Henderson himself has previously claimed that a new PS5 model would begin production in April 2023 and go on sale in September, although at the time, he again didn’t think it would be a Slim (or Pro, for that matter).
