Bethesda Game Studios’ long-rumoured PS5 version of Starfield is launching on April 7, 2026, according to a new report from insider Graczdari of Polish site PPE.pl.
The sci-fi RPG will reportedly hit Sony’s current-generation console in Standard and Premium Edition flavours, and notes that it didn’t end up coming out last year due to “weak” sales of the Shattered Space DLC. Instead, Bethesda is looking to launch the PS5 version of Starfield alongside its second slice of DLC. This ties in with a previous report in August last year by MP1st, which claims that Starfield would come to PS5 in Spring 2026.
A PS5 version of Starfield has been rumoured for some time now, with initial reports cropping up in February 2024 via The Verge and XboxEra, where it was claimed the sci-fi RPG was among many first-party Xbox titles planned to come to Sony’s system, including the now-released Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Jump forward to January 2025, and Vandal stated that Starfield, Fable, and Killer Instinct were planing to make the jump to PS5.
Meanwhile, leaker NateTheHate said in July 2025 that Starfield was still in the pipeline for a PS5 release, but it may have slipped beyond its original release window. Indeed, that appears to have been the case, as the game didn’t end up making it out last year.
Starfield launched for the PC and Xbox Series X/S in September 2023.
The game is the first original IP in over 25 years for Bethesda Game Studios, and takes place in the year 2330, where humanity has explored beyond the solar system and settled on new planets. Players are part of a group of space explorers known as the Constellation, who are seeking rare artefacts throughout the galaxy, navigating the vast expanse of space in the process. You’ll explore more than 1,000 planets on your journey, taking you to bustling cities, hostile bases, and wild landscapes, meeting and recruiting a cast of memorable characters as you forge your own adventure while piloting and commanding the ship of your dreams.
