It seems as though Square Enix has been faithful to continuing development on Final Fantasy XIV, as the company recently announced that Chocobos, and Materia, will be patched into the Japanese MMO.
Chocobos are the iconic chicken-steeds of the Final Fantasy universe. Making an appearance in every Final Fantasy game, these mounts would allow you to cross some serious terrain, and that seems to be the case with this new update shown by Square.
Airships are being added to Eorzea, the virtual land of FFXIV. Allowing players to take a flight across the land of Eorzea, airships will take players from nation to nation, in return for gil.
Materia is also now making a return to Final Fantasy in the form of weapon rune/gems that enhance certain stats. Mostly known from their appearance in Final Fantasy 7, Materia is normally used in the mechanic to upgrade one’s respective characters, or acquire abilities/spells.
It’s great to see Square Enix show some sign of promise to their IP, but we can’t help but think, where is Final Fantasy XIV on PlayStation 3?
