SEGA Is Increasing The Average Monthly Salary For All Employees By 10% From April 2026

Sonic the Hedgehog publisher SEGA has announced plans to increase the average monthly salary for all its employees by 10% from April 2026.

Speaking in a press release, the veteran video game publisher confirmed plans to “revise the salary levels of all full-time employees” in addition to boosting the starting wage of new employees, “with the aim of creating an environment in which employees can work with peace of mind amid recent social changes such as rising prices.”

The former hardware manufacturer, which switched to exclusively developing software after the demise of the Dreamcast in 2001, also confirmed plans for “recruiting and developing attractive human resources to strengthen its global competitiveness.” As a result of the salary increases, the starting wage for university graduates will be increased by 10% from 300,000 yen to 330,000 yen, which is an increase of around $193.

SEGA also outlined “a compensation system that rewards employees according to their roles and contributions,” in addition growing initiatives “that support working styles that allow each employee to live the life that suits them best.”

Last month, SEGA issued a new trademark filing for Shadow the Hedgehog suggesting it is looking to possibly remaster the original PS2 title or perhaps even develop a brand new instalment in the series.
