Shadow Of The Colossus Has Reportedly Fixed Its PS5 Low-Res Texture Bug

Bluepoint Games‘ stunning Shadow of the Colossus has seemingly finally done away with a long-standing low-resolution texture issue when played on PS5 via backwards compatibility.

As noted by Reddit user ‘almutama90,’ prior to the recent slew of PS5 system updates the game would display low textures across the board, and would sometimes flicker between high and low resolution textures. This would occur during Performance and Cinematic mode.

The post goes on to note that the issue has been removed, with all textures being displayed properly in high resolution and no flickering taking place. They also provided some images of the textures before and after the updates, which you can see here.

Sadly Shadow of the Colossus remains one of a few exclusives not to receive a proper PS5 update, although the game still looks great when running on Sony’s console, even more so now due to those issues being fixed.

Shadow of the Colossus was released in early 2018 for the PS4 and is a full remake of the original 2006 Shadow of the Colossus for PS2, which was developed by Team ICO.
