Shadows of the Damned snags a solid launch date

Shadows of the Damned today received a brief delay. Originally scheduled for release on July 7, 2011, Grasshopper Manufacture’s twisted third-person shooter will now ascend from the depths of hell on July 21, 2011, according to Joystiq.

The two-week delay gives Shadows of the Damned some time to escape the E3 2011 media frenzy, which threatened to overshadow the Suda 51 and Mikami’s latest adventure. In addition to the talent of those two legendary developers, the game sports the musical prowess of Akira Yamaoka, who previously composed the Silent Hill games.

Since when did hell look so much like Eastern Europe?

EA Partners today unchained a bevy of gruesome Shadows of the Damned screenshots, which you can check out here if you’re so inclined. Also, be sure to watch our Shadows of the Damned video interview, Hell in a Handbasket.

Shadows of the Damned follows demon hunter Garcia as he ventures through a hyper-twisted re-imagining of hell. To rescue the love of his life, he must vanquish the armies of darkness with the power of the light (plus a couple bottles of Absinthe, which restore his health in the game). It’s out for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on July 21, 2011.
