Shenmue: The Animation has been cancelled and will not bet getting a second season, despite the fact it proved a success with viewers and did enough to warrant a follow-up.
Launched back in February this year, Shenmue: The Animation was broadcast on Adult Swim and was also made available to stream on Crunchyroll. A second season of the show, which is based on Yu Suzuki’s cult classic Dreamcast franchise, was in the early stages of development before it was canned.
Unfortunately, this appears to be another casualty of the merger between Warner and Discovery, which also resulted in a multi-million Batgirl movie left on the cutting room floor. Shenmue: The Animation remains available on Crunchyroll, but has been removed from Adult Swim.

Shenmue: The Animation combines the stories of Shenmue and Shenmue II, opening with the murder of Ryo’s father, Iwao, and concluding with the mysterious cave sequence that fans will only be too familiar with.
