Former PlayStation Worldwide Studios boss and indie champion Shuhei Yoshida departed Sony this week after more than 30 years with the hardware manufacturer, and has now landed his first video game role.
Yoshida-san, who has his leaving party earlier this week as confirmed in an image posted on his X account, has jones the cast of Kaizen Game Works’ upcoming Promise Mascot Agency. He’s playing MonouGe, a bird-like mascot who “just loves games” and is joined on the cast by Takaya Kuroda, who plays Kazuma Kiryu in Yakuza/Like A Dragon.

Yoshida-san isn’t the only industry figure to appear in the game, as Hidetaka Suehiro, aka SWERY and the head of White Owls, Inc., is also lending his voice to the game.
Yoshida joined the PlayStation maker in 1993 where he headed up Sony Computer Entertainment’s third-party licensing program, before ascending to Vice President of SCEA in 2000. In May 2008, Yoshida became the President of SCE Worldwide Studios, a role that he held until November 2019, when he stepped down in oder to spearhead Sony’s indie gaming efforts.
