Former Sony indie boss Shuhei Yoshida has again revealed that he’s been able to play multiple in-development builds of Ghost of Yotei, and has assured fans that Sucker Punch Productions‘ open-world epic is shaping up mighty fine, and will easily surpass its already-brilliant predecessor.
Speaking with PlayStation.fr, Yoshida-san, who departed the PlayStation console maker back in January 2025 after 31 years, shared his experiences with Ghost of Yotei, which was recently confirmed for an October release exclusively for the PS5. Here’s what he had to say:
Ghost of Tsushima felt incredible to play, and having played Ghost of Yotei at several stages of its development, I can assure you that it will be even better and that Sucker Punch has done it again.

This isn’t the first time Yoshida has talked about playing Ghost of Yotei during its development. Last month during a separate interview, he said that the title ‘always felt great‘ during his hands-on with it.
Ghost of Yotei is scheduled for release on October 2, 2025 for the PS5. Sucker Punch Productions recently revealed that the game will boast the largest open-world map of any title from the studio to date.
