Ryukishi07, the writer for Silent Hill f, has revealed to Polygon during a preview event for the game that the upcoming psychological horror title will feature five endings — including a UFO ending — and a New Game Plus option that will feature a number of extra features.
For New Game Plus, players can expect more exploration, different boss battles, and new story developments that are told via new cutscenes. Ryukishi07 explained that Silent Hill f will not be “black and white which endings are good or bad,” although on your first playrhough you will only experience one specific ending. Subsequent playthroughs will allow you to unlock different engine based on your actions and choices.

The UFO ending has been featured in many Silent Hill games since the original and is something of a ‘joke’ conclusion where the protagonist is captured by aliens. However, for Silent Hill f, the topic of extraterrestrials is already a topic of conversation in the game’s narrative, as heroine Hinako reveals she took part in a sci-fi story with her classmates. Her in-game journal also contains references to these alien-based antics overtime.
Speaking in a separate interview with Famitsu, Ryukishi07 revealed that the team wanted to set the game in Shizuoka Prefecture – Shizuoka literally meaning ‘Silent Hill’ or ‘Quiet Hill’ – but the presence of Mount Fuji didn’t create the right atmosphere for a horror game.
Silent Hill f is scheduled for release on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on September 25, 2025.
