Motoi Okamoto, series producer on Silent Hill, has revealed during an interview with GamesRadar that Konami is hoping to see a new game in the series released on an annual basis.
“Our aim is to, hopefully, have an annual release of new games,” said Okamoto-san. “If we stay laser-focused on the same American setting, that would exhaust [narrative] possibilities, and also potentially cause fatigue for the playerbase.” He added that he hopes anyone working on the series can tailor the IP, allowing developers to “work within the types of environments and the types of storytelling that works best for them.”
There are still many projects that are still under the works and very unannounced titles. So obviously, we can’t go into specifics. But there are still many projects that we are currently exploring and working on as we speak.
The next entry in the franchise is Silent Hill Townfall, which is due out on September 24, 2026 for PS5 and PC and is a spinoff from Screen Burn Interactive. Beyond that, we know that Bloober Team are working on a full remake of Silent Hill, so if we’re looking at annual releases in the franchise, then it’s a safe bet to assume that’s coming next in 2027.
Ten years ago this would seem like a pipe dream, as Konami had pretty much abandoned Silent Hill franchise at that point. Even in its heyday, the series has never really been an annual series, although we did get new titles pretty frequently as far as the first four games were concerned.
