The online petition for Konami to resume development of the recently-canceled Silent Hills has amassed over 74,000 signatures.

Launched on May 1, the petition has a target of 75,000 signatures, which means at the time of writing it needs less than 1,000 to go.

Konami announced last week that Silent Hills has been canceled following the removal of the demo, P.T., from the PlayStation Store on Wednesday. The game was a collaboration between Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro, and starred Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead fame.

The writing had been on the wall for a few weeks though, following on-going problems with Kojima-san and Konami bosses that resulting in the Metal Gear creator’s name removed from various game packaging art, including the Silent Hills website.

Silent Hills was formally announced at Gamescom 2014 for PS4.
