Sony and Rockstar respond to L.A. Noire PS3 issues

Nick Caplin, Head of Communications at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), has released a joint statement today on the behalf of Sony and Rockstar, confirming that the issues users have experienced over the past few days while playing L.A. Noire were not caused by Firmware update 3.61 or the game itself.

“We have received a very small number of customer support questions about PS3s overheating or shutting down while playing L.A. Noire. At this time, Rockstar Games and Sony can confirm that neither L.A. Noire or firmware update 3.61 are causing the PS3 hardware to overheat,” the statement reads.

We reported yesterday that many users have experienced freezing, crashing, overheating and forced console shut downs while playing L.A. Noire for extended periods of time on older PS3s, specifically the 60GB and 80GB models.

“We are both committed to working hard to find solutions to this and any issues that may arise,” Caplin added.

Sony and Rockstar are encouraging users who are currently experiencing these issues to contact technical support via the following methods below.
