Kevin McAllister, Community Manager for Sony Bend Studio, has issued statement on X thanking those who have reached out to the studio in support after news broke last week that its live service title had been scrapped by Sony.
I’ll keep this short. Thanks for the love and support everyone, especially to those that have reached out. P.S. We still plan on creating cool shit.
Sony Bend last shipped a game back in 2019 with Days Gone, and while it had its fans, the game’s critical reception was somewhat Luke warm. The studio has been busy working on a live service game ever since then, with details squeezing through the cracks ever now and then. Back in December, it was revealed in a portfolio for a UI designer that the game had a third-person viewpoint and military theme, as well as menus for crafting and inventory.
Earlier report about the game had stated that it utilised the Decima Engine from Guerrilla Games, and while a title for the project was never revealed, it was billed as a ‘triple-A live service’ game, so it was obviously a major production.

Jeff Grubb recently claimed that staff at Sony Bend and Bluepoint Games had found out about their live service games being cancelled at the ‘same time as everyone else.’ The latter was reportedly working on a God of War live service title.
