Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki has revealed the hardware manufacturer has no interest in putting in a bid for Warner Bros. Discovery, after the Harry Potter studio revealed last week that it was considering putting itself up for sale as part of a strategic review.
“We have no desire for big M&A deals in the U.S. film industry right now,” said Totoki-san. He added that “simply adding together the current movie studios doesn’t strike me as leading to a big gain in profitability.”
SPE (Sony Pictures Entertainment) isn’t a big platform company for which scale is everything, so it can create its own position even without becoming one of the top players.

Warner Bros. Discovery announced in June of this year that Warner Bros. Games would be restructured to focus on key franchises such as the DC Universe, Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, and Game of Thrones.
