Sony confirms PS Plus-exclusive beta for Defiance

Sony has announced on the EU PlayStation Blog that PlayStation Plus subscribers will gain access to an exclusive beta for Defiance.

Those of you who are interested in taking the futuristic shooter for a spin prior to launch can take part in the beta over a period of four days. As mentioned, it’s exclusive to PS Plus, and runs through March 22 – March 25.

It gets better, though. PS Plus members will also net 20 per cent off the asking price for Defiance, from the game’s launch on April 2 – April 17. So, what would normally cost you £34.99/€39.99 will now set you back only £27.99/€31.99 – just make sure you get in quick to take advantage of the offer.

For those out of the loop, Defiance is an open-world, sci-fi themed shooter that sees thousands of players – known here as Ark Hunters – duking it out for alien technology to level up their skills and unlock new weapons.

Taking place from a third-person perspective, the game is a tie-in to the eponymous Syfy TV show, and is set on Earth following a worldwide terraforming event. This combined with numerous wars with alien races has left the planet in a state of devastation. In terms of gameplay, players will have a wealth of customization options to tuck into, and the title also features ‘dynamic events’ known as Arkfalls.

Defiance will be released on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 on April 2.
