Sony conversing with Rockstar about new PSP ‘GTA’s

Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories are two of the best PSP games, as well as the platform’s two top sellers. Obviously, Sony has an interest in pursuing more Grand Theft Auto titles for the PSP. Rockstar’s latest portable outing, however, is not gracing the PSP; Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is a Nintendo DS exclusive. Does this mean the end of PSP GTAs? According to John Koller, Sony’s head of PSP hardware marketing in North America, hopefully and probably not.

“No one should sleep on that franchise,” Koller told MTV Multiplayer. “That’s a tremendous franchise for PlayStation in general. We’ve had two that are the top two sellers on PSP right now. So, there’s definitely continued conversations with Rockstar on all their brands. That’s nothing that’s left the PlayStation family.”

Rockstar declined to comment on the story. Considering the smash success Rockstar had with their first two PSP Grand Theft Auto titles, we’d be surprised if they didn’t have anything brewing behind closed doors for Sony’s portable.
