Noclip Game History Archive has made available the Sony E3 2006 in 1080p for the first time, allowing you to relive the gloriously shambolic event in high definition — giant enemy grabs and all.
Sony’s E3 2006 is legendary for a number of reasons, least of all because it was a bit of a mess. Kaz Hirai lead the briefing, which was mainly focused on the then-upcoming PS3, although we did get some PSP stuff too, including Kaz giving us a demo of ‘Riiiiidge Racer.’
The PS3 received some game demonstrations too, including Genji: Days of the Blade, which was ‘based on actual Japanese history.’ So, it’s natural we’re then treated to a boss fight against a ‘giant enemy crab.’ Closing things off, Kaz announced the price point for the PS3, which didn’t exactly go down well as the most expensive version set you back $599.
The PS3 was released in November 2006 in the US and Japan, although despite Sony’s announcement that the system would arrive in November 2006 in Europe, the PS3 was eventually delayed until March 2007 in that territory.
