Sony ensures ‘the best possible service with the most compelling content’ following PlayStation Plus price hike

It’s safe to say that Sony’s decision – as a consequence of ‘market shifts’ – to increase the subscription fee for its PlayStation Plus service in Europe has been met with mixed reactions, with the majority of criticism being leveled at the ‘tier’ of games afforded on the paid service each month.

In a bid to quell any discontent, a Sony Computer Entertainment U.K. representative has sent a statement over to our friends over at Push Square which details what will happen to the quality of the service moving forward.

"We are dedicated to bringing PlayStation Plus members the best possible service with the most compelling content," the statement reads.

It continues: ”From 1st September we will be increasing the price of monthly and three month PlayStation Plus subscriptions in line with market conditions. We will continue to invest in PlayStation Plus to ensure an unparalleled experience, featuring the best quality games and features."

Not only has the quality of some games afforded to the service come into question but the incessant downtime and maintenance periods – an issue that hasn’t befallen the likes of Microsoft’s Xbox One nearly as much – has left many feeling hard done by considering they’re paying for a service that is currently, in many peoples’ eyes, not up to snuff.
