Sony files trademarks for "Rain" and "Until Dawn", gamescom reveals incoming?

A couple weeks back, we reported that Sony would be revealing two brand-new exclusive titles at gamescom in August. Two trademarks very recently filed by Sony Computer Entertainment America could be exactly what we’re looking for.

As spotted by OnlySP, the first of the two trademarks, "Rain", was filed with the United States Patent Office by SCEA on July 30 of this year. Its class status is listed as "Computer game software; video game software", lending credence to the idea that Sony has a new project in the works for PlayStation gamers.

The second trademark is actually a re-filing of one first submitted in 2010. "Until Dawn" was rumored at the time to be a horror title for PlayStation Move, but fell completely off the radar in the months since. We previously reported that a new Move IP will be among Sony’s reveals at gamescom, making "Until Dawn" a likely candidate for this honor.

The close proximity of these filings – within two days of each other – and their timing in relation to gamescom (along with our report) seems like too much for coincidence. I think it’s clear that we can expect something big from Sony when they take the stage on August 14 in Cologne, Germany.
