Sony is looking to amend its warranties by introducing additional protection plans for newly purchased PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable consoles. These amendments however at this point in time only affect US console owners, and there has been no word about amendments to these policies in other countries.
The amendments will include the choice of an additional year’s cover on the console, as well as cover from accidental damage. So, should you accidentally drop your PS3 on the way home, or your younger sibling decides to put your PSP in the toaster, you’ll be able to take small comfort in the knowledge that you won’t have to purchase a brand new replacement machine.
