Sony Is Rolling Out PlayStation Age Verification In The UK & Ireland

Sony has started rolling out PlayStation Age Verification in regions such as the UK and Ireland, with multiple users having already been asked to verify their age in order to access specific content.

The process can be completed in a number of methods such as facial scan, supplying ID, or using your mobile phone number. While it is currently optional, age verification will be required beginning in June 2026. Sony’s dedicated mini-site for Age Verification offers more details:

Age verification will be required later in 2026 for UK & Ireland adult accounts to access certain features. If you’re prompted, we recommend completing age verification to avoid interruptions later in 2026.

We use age verification to deliver the best PlayStation experience for your age and to help protect our younger users. If you have not completed age verification, you can continue playing on PlayStation but communication features won’t be available until you do. To keep using communication, broadcasting, and certain in-game features without interruption, we recommend verifying your age now. Verify now or scan this QR code on your mobile device.

You’ll need to verify your age in order to maintain access to features such as has voice and text chat, messaging, third-party communication tools including Discord, and platforms such as YouTube and Twitch.
