Sony looks set to skip Gamescom 2016 yet again

Sony is poised to skip Gamescom 2016 for the second year running, according to a list of exhibitors and booth floor plans for the upcoming summer games event.

This perhaps isn’t a surprise considering the format holder opted out of the event last year, instead hosting its own conference at Paris Games Week.

While it looks as if this is indeed the case for another year, the exhibitor list does at least confirm the following companies for Gamescom 2016:

Activision Blizzard, Bandai Namco, Bethesda Softworks, CD Projekt S.A., Deep Silver, Don’t Nod Entertainment, EA, Blizzard Entertainment, Neocore Games, Nintendo of Europe, Oculus VR, Perfect World Europe, Rebellion, and Konami.

Sony’s Paris Games Week press conference last year birthed a number of major announcements, including Ace Combat 7, Tekken 7, and Detroit: Become Human, plus new details on Street Fighter V and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

From the look of things Sony wants to capitalise on the success of last year’s strategy, so we’ll probably be hearing more on its plans for Paris Games Week soon enough.
