Sony's Eric Lempel has confirmed that last week's Black Friday was the biggest in PlayStation history.
Speaking during an interview with CNBC, the PlayStation Network chief labelled the money-saving period the “biggest Black Friday in PlayStation history.” During this time, the format holder “sold more consoles than we ever have in our 22-year history.”

The period saw a number of major PS4 and PSVR hardware bundles slashed to wallet-friendly prices. As such, consumes were able to pick up deals like a PS4 Pro with one game for £300, as well as a PSVR for £100 off the usual asking price.
Lempel noted that the new wave of PS4 owners have since signed up for PlayStation Plus, which he notes will give them “a lot of value.”
The executive went on to say that “consumers absolutely love [VR technology],” and teased “there's a lot more to come” from Sony's virtual reality gaming headset.
Earlier this week, GfK Chart-Track confirmed that PSVR sales jumped over Black Friday, putting them ‘on par' with its launch figures. In addition, the PS4 also enjoyed its biggest Black Friday sales since the console released in November 2013.
Amazon UK lowered the price of PS4 Pro yesterday to just £259.99 — an all-time low for the console.
Sony isn't quite down with 2017 just yet, however. The company still has its annual PlayStation Experience event coming next week, where we can expect a host of new games to be announced for PS4 and PSVR.
Looking ahead into 2018, the hardware manufacturer has a number of major PS4 games due for release. These include the likes of God of War, Days Gone, Detroit: Become Human, and Spider-Man, plus of course strong third-party support.
