Sony on PS4 exclusives: ‘we like to fill the whole year’

Sony would prefer to spread its PlayStation 4 exclusive titles throughout the whole year rather than cluster them all into the holiday season, Shawn Layden, President of Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has said.

“Artists create their own timeline,” Layden told VentureBeat in regards to the timing of exclusives, “there’s only so much that we can do to affect that. But to the general point, we like to have good content appear on the platform year-round. We don’t just want a cluster in the summer and a cluster at the holidays. We’d like to fill the whole year.”

This holiday’s exclusive line-up includes DRIVECLUB and LittleBigPlanet 3, although there’s a slew of exclusive content lined up for 2015 too. For starters, we have The Order: 1886 and Bloodborne arriving in February and March, respectively, with the likes of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End coming later in the year.
