Jim Ryan, CEO and President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, has said the console manufacturer is going to continue releasing PlayStation-exclusive titles on PC a few years after their console debut.
Speaking with Famitsu magazine, Ryan said that feedback from gamers has revealed that most people feel it is “acceptable” to have Sony’s exclusives hit PC after around 2-3 years.
We also fully understand the importance of PS5 exclusive titles. As I mentioned earlier, PlayStation Studios’ main responsibility is to make games for the latest PlayStation hardware that players will enjoy. We are increasing the number of PS5 exclusive games, and staggering the release of the PC versions.
I often have the opportunity to ask game fans for their opinions, and when I ask them how they feel about the time lag, they often say they feel the release of a PC version two or three years after the release of the PlayStation version is acceptable.
Sony has been releasing a number of its major PS4 & PS5 games to PC in the past few years, including Days Gone, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, SackBoy: A Big Adventure, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, and more.
