Sony promotes Kaz Hirai

Sony’s revealed that it has promoted PlayStation head honcho Kazuo Hirai to the role of company vice president, as well as announcing it is to restructure the business in an effort to facilitate continued growth.

Kicking off on April 1, the console maker will be splitting the business into two groups, namely the Consumer Products and Services Group and the Professional & Device Solutions Group.

Hirai, who has been climbing the corporate ladder since joining Sony in 1995, will head up the former putting him in charge of overseeing the company’s consumer products and network services.

Hiroshi Yoshioka, meanwhile, will manage the electronics giant’s components, semiconductors and business services.

Here’s a virtual pat on the back from all the chaps here at PSU Towers, Kaz.
