Sony registers ‘Vib Ribbon’ trademark in Europe

In a move that’ll undoubtedly set gaming – specifically PlayStation – pulses racing, Sony has today registered a trademark for ‘Vib Ribbon’ for usage in European territories.

Spotted by the keen-eyed folk over at NeoGAF and shown on a webpage of the ‘Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market ‘ – quite the mouthful – the listing is decidedly hush regarding other concrete information other than the fact that the trademark was filed today.

It is unclear what legality comes into play once a game reaffirms itself as a PlayStation Classic on the PlayStation Store, but the more enthusiastic of us suspect that we haven’t seen the last of the rhythm-based game which saw success at the tail end of the original PlayStation’s lifespan.

In our eyes, a PSN-only Vib-Ribbon reboot would be wholly welcome – in fact a resurgence of the party/rhythm games of yonder would be fantastic, too. Um Jammer Lammy, PaRappa the Rapper, and Bust a Groove – you’re next!
